Johanna Boal grew up in Connemara on the West Coast of Ireland .She is married with 3 grown-up children and now lives in Beverley, East Yorkshire.
She works part/time as a librarian and in her spare time loves to read, write poetry and children’s stories.
This is my favourite from the book:
Where the Carpet Ends
At Granny’s it finished in the hall
before the stairs,
in the rented accommodation
on the landing not on the stairs.
In one room but not in another,
a rug inside the door.
Not the wooden floors
in the stately home, a runner
balustrade marble stairs.
The art gallery, library, school
bristled mat, then tiled lino floor.
Long strip of red;
Oscars and royal wedding at St. Paul’s.
Carpets cover desert tents
kneeling mats, prayer mats
wipe your feet mats
hanging silk rugs on the walls.
Fitted carpets throughout.
