Some responses to Jo Waterworth’s collection: My Father Speaks in Poetry Too
This delightful little book is an inspiring memoir honouring both the ailing body and indomitable spirit of the poet’s father. It is moving and uplifting – yet down-to-earth at the same time. Jo Waterworth’s poetry is economical – she uses just the right words, always sparingly but with absolute precision. The juxtaposition of listening to birds tuning up with notes on the weather and the making of porridge works beautifully. The illustrations are delightful and the way the pages are set out with white space around the words gives the whole book the dignity it deserves.

I read Jo Waterworth’s delightful book, My Father Speaks In Poetry Too while enjoying a cool drink with Moira this afternoon. I was very taken with not only Jo’s moving poems but also with the feel of the book’s textured pages – as I ran my fingers across each page. And the illustrations are stunning.
Needless to say, I’ve ordered a copy for myself via Poetry Space and PayPal and look forward to adding it to my poetry library.
