My Father Speaks in Poetry Too by Jo Waterworth was launched at the Buddleia Cafe in Glastonbury on 19th June.
It was Jo’s birthday and so an extra special occasion for her. The book is particularly poignant as it is a record of the last few precious months in the life of Jo’s father.
This is just one of the poems from the book:
April
ANOTHER SPRING
‘Do I look older?’ he asked.
‘I feel older.’
He showed off
body frailties. Thin flaky skin.
Red bruising.
Under the clothes
his bones were bare.
Yet the face was still my father’s
until I came to leave
when it crumpled.
